A european organic modern HOME

The old red brick of England feels like home to me. My family’s heritage is from England, Whales, and Norway. 

I lived in Ireland where gray stones make up whole neighborhoods.

Montana’s rustic, rugged feel comes through with raw old beams and organic decor throughout our home.

If you are a home cook or your decorate your kitchen, this pertains to you!! Here are the very basics of what you need to know when it comes to storing your olive oil well: ✨No light: Use a green/brown glass bottle or a ceramic bottle to keep the light out, no clear glass bottles! I know they can be pretty, but the oil goes rancid so fast when exposed to light. ✨No air: No open bottles! I’m seeing these so much right now with open pour spouts… I know they are pretty, but all that air is just making your olive oil go bad way to quickly. ✨No heat: So don’t keep it somewhere warm… like next to an oven 🤪 No, I keep mine nearby, just not directly on the line or right where I’ve got a burner on.   • This is so wild… This beam is 408 years old, and we are so humbled to have a piece of history like this in our home. The most asked question about our bedroom is where this fireplace mantle came from and where can you find something similar. Long story short, you can’t! This small beam was a completely unique find from our local reclaimed lumber company. They help dismantle buildings with beautiful and historic wood beams in them, and this one had such a unique origin story that we had to have it. This came from the Czech Embassy located in France, located right near the Louve. The building was original built in 1616 using these timbers. The cross-hatching that you see on the beams are old axe marks. The building was being updated and steel beams were being put in the old woods place, so these were taken down and they made it all the way to our European-inspired home. We have a lot of French-inspired interior design fused with Montana rustic elements, and having this in our home felt like such a symbolic fit. PS - Don’t completely disregard the option of real reclaimed beams.
